Location: London - on site
Rate: £15.00 per hour
Hours: As agreed - fixed hours (9:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
About the Role
We are seeking a conscientious, organised and confidential HR Administrator to join our school's administration team. This is a key support role within a busy educational environment, supporting all aspects of HR and people administration to help the team run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the full recruitment process – drafting job adverts and person specifications, posting adverts, handling applications, short‑listing, organising interviews, and issuing offer letters.
- Carry out pre‑employment checks (e.g. background/DBS, right to work, references) and maintain the Single Central Record (SCR) or equivalent staff compliance register.
- Manage and maintain accurate electronic and paper personnel records for all staff – including onboarding, leaving staff, changes in employment status.
- Coordinate staff inductions, onboarding and exit procedures, and any relevant mandatory training (e.g. safeguarding/compliance training) or documentation.
- Provide general HR administrative support – respond to HR queries, manage communications (email, mail, HR inbox), support payroll paperwork where required, and assist with staff absence/leave documentation.
- Work collaboratively with senior management/HR Manager to ensure HR policies and compliance with relevant legislation (including safeguarding, data protection, right to work, etc.) are maintained.
Person Specification / What We’re Looking For
- Strong organisational and administrative skills – ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and prioritise workload under time pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and comfortable with HR information systems/databases.
- Attention to detail, especially around compliance, record‑keeping, safeguarding and data protection.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team; supportive, flexible, and responsive to the needs of a busy school environment.
- Previous admin or HR experience desirable – school‑based experience a plus but not essential.
What We Offer
- Hourly pay at £15 per hour.
- A supportive, friendly working environment – opportunity to gain (or build on) HR experience in the education sector, including end‑to‑end recruitment, compliance and employee life‑cycle management.
- Scope for responsibility and variety – no two days are the same: you'll interact with staff, manage sensitive data, support recruitment, compliance, training and general admin.
