HR Administrative Assistant, permanent based in Gateshead.

A well-established and fast growing client based in the Gateshead area is currently looking to expand their internal People & Culture team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with prior HR admin experience who is looking to grow their HR career within a dynamic, friendly, and fast paced environment.

The Role

In this role, you will be an integral part of the HR function, providing comprehensive administrative support across the employee lifecycle. From recruitment and onboarding to maintaining accurate records and assisting with payroll prep, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of HR processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a first point of contact for HR and recruitment queries.
  • Maintain and update employee records in line with GDPR and data protection policies.
  • Support recruitment activities: job adverts, interview scheduling, contracts, and offer letters.
  • Coordinate onboarding processes, including compliance checks and system access.
  • Administer employee lifecycle changes such as promotions, salary updates, contract variations, and leavers.
  • Support with key HR processes: probation reviews, performance appraisals, training logs, and absence tracking.
  • Assist with monthly payroll data preparation.
  • Contribute to HR-related projects, policy reviews, and employee engagement initiatives.
What We Are Looking For
  • Prior experience in an HR admin/support role.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Confident communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using HRIS systems (preferred).
  • Discreet and professional in handling sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices (desirable).
  • CIPD Level 3 qualification (beneficial but not essential).
