Housing Solution Manager (Ref: HSM)

Salary £46,233.72

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to lead the Housing Solutions Team at Broxbourne Council. We are looking for an experienced manager to join the team to deliver an excellent homelessness prevention and housing advice service. The team is busy and forward‑thinking, always looking to secure the best possible solutions for households with housing needs, and needs a strong leader with the same aims.

The role will lead the team to support those at risk of homelessness to resolve their housing needs and find settled accommodation for homeless households. Providing leadership and strategic oversight of service delivery, as well as ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of the service, this role is vital to the success of the Council’s objective to minimise homelessness.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the team that assesses homelessness applications and provides effective housing advice.
  • Provide leadership and strategic oversight of service delivery.
  • Ensure smooth day‑to‑day running of the service.
  • Apply housing law and policy to individual cases through careful assessment of circumstances, investigations and enquiries in a consistent and transparent way.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of five GCSE or equivalent passes (at least grade C), including English and Maths.
  • Computer literate.
  • Experience in the public sector preferred; specific housing related experience and/or qualification an advantage.
  • Experience in a busy, varied, customer‑facing role dealing with vulnerable or disadvantaged people desirable.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively as part of the wider housing team to help local people and families and make a difference to their lives.
  • A full driving licence would be advantageous.
  • Disclosure and barring service check required as the role works with children or vulnerable clients.
