Job summary

A housing organization in the UK seeks a Housing Officer for a 3-month contract in Brentwood. The role involves managing ~400 properties, addressing rent arrears, and fostering tenant engagement for community wellbeing. Job description
  • Housing Officer - Brentwood Borough Council (3-month contract, 37 hours/week, inside IR35).
  • Responsible for managing a patch of ~400 properties, including rent arrears recovery, tenancy management, estate inspections, and tenancy audits.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery and engagement with tenants to support tenancy sustainment and community wellbeing.
  • Act as the first point of contact for tenants and leaseholders, addressing anti-social behaviour, disputes, and service enquiries.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies (Police, Social Services, Benefits, Job Centre, voluntary organisations) to support tenants and achieve housing service objectives., Enforce Council's Income Management Policy, including rent arrears recovery, pre-court visits, and court attendance.
  • Conduct tenancy audits, estate inspections, and accompanied viewings for prospective tenants.
  • Provide advice and support on welfare reform, Universal Credit, and tenancy sustainment.
  • Manage anti-social behaviour cases and other tenancy breaches, implementing effective action plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports using housing management systems (e.g., Orchard, Uniform, Locata) and Microsoft Office.
  • Liaise with internal and external agencies to ensure tenancy sustainment and address complex tenant needs.
  • Respond promptly to complaints, enquiries, and housing service issues.
  • Support team objectives and provide cover for colleagues as part of the Estate Management team.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of housing services.
