Job Summary

We are recruiting for a Housekeeper who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. The post holder will work as an integral part of the ward team and will be responsible for the coordination of all patient facilities/services in the ward area and for ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment. The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs, as determined by the ward sister/charge nurse. Responsibilities
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the ward and carry out spot cleaning.
  • Ensure patients order food where necessary taking into account special needs and meal requirements.
  • Provide eating assistance, e.g., cutting up of food and placing food within reach and prepare hot/cold beverages.
  • Carry out monitoring of service delivery especially related to cleaning, food, linen and the environment.
  • Transfer and dispose of clinical, domestic and confidential waste as per Policy.
  • Welcome and guide visitors on arrival and assist with the induction of new staff.
Person Specification
Essential
  • General training qualifications.
  • Previous experience in work or technical roles, including experience/previous level of responsibility and customer service focused environment.
  • Clear & polite telephone skills and verbal communications.
  • Dealing with enquiries/complaints.
  • Ability to work closely with all levels of staff and adaptability, able to prioritise especially under pressure.
  • Leadership, organisational, communication and motivation to work alone and within a team.
  • Confidentiality and flexibility/adaptable.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety issue, clerical procedures/ordering supplies.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion, and role model our Trust values every day.
Desirable
  • Basic general education – English & Maths.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Previous employment within the NHS, hospital environment or hotel industry.
  • Training in food hygiene, cleaning standards/small maintenance tasks.
  • Dealing with the public, patients nutritional needs, waste management, infection control issues.
