To work as part of the team within Edward House you will be supporting the Ward Manager, Charge Nurses and Ward Staff in maintaining the ward environment, liaising closely with the Estates Team and the Estates Help Desk, ensuring that all issues pertaining the patients' environment and needs are dealt with efficiently., + Support clinical staff by addressing the non-clinical needs of the patients in achieving an excellent level of customer service, by ensuring that the patient environment is a welcoming, clean, comfortable, and safe.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To work with the domestic staff allocated to your ward(s) to ensure that there is a high standard of cleanliness.
  2. Spot clean and ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently
  3. Bring to the attention of nursing staff any shortfalls in cleanliness of patient equipment.
  4. Undertake cleaning of spillage's, including body fluids in line with Trust infection control policies and procedures
  5. An awareness of all infection control issues
  6. Arrange for specialist cleaning as and when required, i.e. carpet cleaning, deep cleaning.
  7. Address that the patient has all toiletry requisites
  8. Responsible for keeping the unit tidy by encouraging both staff and patients to be aware of the standards expected by PLACE.
  9. Ensure that segregation and disposal of waste is disposed of according to the Trust's Waste Management Policy
  10. Take responsibility to ensure that mandatory training is up to date
  11. Able to access and keep self-updated via eLearning/OLM
  12. Awareness of one's own self-development needs and attend appropriate course as agreed at appraisal
  13. Attend in-service and other training as required, including food hygiene, infection control
  14. Awareness of the Trust's Health and Safety Policy, ensuring that a full understanding of the duty of care to patients, visitors, other members of staff and you is upheld as at all times.
  15. To liaise with clinical staff and the catering Department to ensure that patient's dietary needs are catered for wherever possible.

As a newly appointed employee, you are responsible for incurring the cost of your initial DBS check relevant to your post; the amount will be deducted from your first salary with the Trust.
