Job Overview

We are looking for a Billing Team Manager to ensure billing data integrity, coordinate the Order‑to‑Cash process, and lead a team. This hybrid full‑time role (37.5 hours) is based in York, YO26 4GN.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and allocate tasks within the team to ensure customers are billed accurately, compliantly and on time, taking corrective or disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Ensure interfaces between billing systems are cleared and reconciled on a regular basis.
  • Proactively review reporting and KPIs to monitor the end‑to‑end O2C process.
  • Identify process pain points, initiate corrective action, and elevate issues when required.
  • Plan, coordinate and resolve issues within the O2C process.
  • Provide constructive feedback to direct reports and coach subordinate leaders on mentoring and team leadership.
  • Engage with the wider group to drive compliance with VAT and other financial regulations.
  • Communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, customers and cross‑functional teams, presenting logical and coherent arguments.
  • Defend positions in discussions or debates and persuade subordinates appropriately, both verbally and by email.
  • Collaborate with risk, collections, customer services, transport, depots/sites and commercial teams to resolve issues.
  • Manage internal or external escalations in a timely and professional manner with clear and concise communication.
  • Coach less experienced members through challenging or non‑standard scenarios.
  • Apply knowledge of employee conduct, discipline and benefits policies to support, reward or correct behaviour as necessary.
  • Verify the effectiveness of proposed process improvement solutions by team members.
  • Plan and lead the implementation of solutions as and when required.
Qualifications
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, graphing and data analysis).
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, and advanced PowerPoint presentation creation.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ECC6 or S/4, or an equivalent ERP system; ability to create ad‑hoc reports, interpret error messages, and perform basic SD and AR screen functions.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills with a willingness to learn and improve.
  • Confidence to discuss tax issues with the tax team or CFO.
