A prominent NHS trust in the UK is seeking a consultant for Cardiac Investigations. The role entails managing cardiac physiologist duties, including device implant procedures and remote monitoring follow-up. Applicants must possess a BSc in Cardiac Physiology and relevant echocardiography qualifications. The Trust is dedicated to diversity and encourages applications from all backgrounds. The position is based in Bristol, working within an expansion effort in their cardiac services.
This is an exciting time to join the team in Cardiac Investigations at North Bristol NHS Trust. The consultant team is expanding to enhance the services we offer. We offer complex device implantation and follow up to include CRT‑p and CRT‑d and CSP pacing. We hold BSE Departmental Accreditation for Adult TTE, TOE and are a designated training centre. We have heavily invested in the physiology staff group where this post fits in. Investment in the infrastructure includes a replacement catheter lab commissioned in April 2023 and plans to expand into a second lab/hybrid lab to carry out device procedures. We have a robust replacement programme for our echo machines with new GE machines and a new reporting system.
North Bristol NHS Trust employs over 12,000 staff providing healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset from our award‑winning hospital building at Southmead. We are the regional Major Trauma Centre and an internationally recognised centre of excellence. Our vision is to enable our teams to be the best they can be, providing exceptional healthcare, personally delivered.
North Bristol NHS Trust values all people as individuals. We aim to be an anti‑discriminatory organisation and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills. We welcome applicants from all underrepresented groups.
In Spring 2025, the Cardiology Specialty at NBT is forming a Group Cardiac Service with UHBW, operating as a joined‑up service delivered across two Trusts. Cardiac Services will be led by a single leadership team, with UHBW acting as the lead organisation, and site‑based leadership in place to support day‑to‑day operations on all sites. Cardiology care at NBT is delivered in the Brunel building at Southmead Hospital and at the Bristol Heart Institute for UHBW.
