Overview

Axcis Education is supporting a specialist school in Warmley that provides a nurturing and bespoke learning environment for students aged 8–16. The school caters to young people with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, ADHD, and other associated learning needs. With a small, co-educational setting of 25 pupils, the school offers a personalised approach to education, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to thrive. The curriculum blends academic subjects with life skills, emotional understanding, and independence training. The school is part of the Phoenix Learning and Care group, which is committed to providing inclusive education that meets the individual needs of every student.

The Role

As a SEND HLTA, you will be at the heart of the classroom, supporting students to access the curriculum and develop essential life skills. Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading small group interventions: Deliver targeted interventions to support students\' academic and personal development.
  • Classroom support: Assist in the classroom by supporting students with SEND, ensuring they are engaged and making progress.
  • Behaviour management: Implement strategies to support positive behaviour and manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement individual learning plans.
  • Monitoring and reporting: Observe and assess students\' progress, providing feedback to inform planning and development.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Have significant experience working with students with SEND, particularly those with Autism, SEMH, or communication difficulties.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Show a commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
