Role Information

  • FTE Salary: up to £28,050.00 (Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • Actual Salary: up to £25,589.98
  • Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time only
  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 41 weeks a year

SGS Create provides a specialised, school‑like environment within a college setting, offering a nurturing and inclusive space for students who have found mainstream education challenging. Many of our learners are neurodiverse, have experienced prolonged disengagement, or are seeking a more personalised and flexible approach to learning.   • SGS Create teaching staff and corporate staff will be allocated 13 weeks holidays each academic year, only to be taken in line with the school holiday term breaks. Some cover might be needed during term breaks but this will be with prior agreement. A full‑time teaching timetable would be 25 hours timetable per week to allow for PPA, over 39 teaching weeks, this will be reduced to reflect any agreed remission allocated for specific roles or responsibilities. We have an exciting opportunity for a committed and inspiring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join SGS Create, a dynamic provision for 14 - 16‑year‑olds based at SGS College’s Stroud Campus.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality in-class support across a range of subjects, particularly core subjects and PSHE
  • Offer academic mentoring and 1:1 interventions for learners with additional needs
  • Deliver specific lessons in PSHE/Life Skills or other activities
  • Deliver short-term cover for teaching staff when required
  • Contribute to the pastoral care, personal development, and wellbeing of our students
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, support teams, and external professionals
  • Play a key role in building relationships with learners, supporting re‑engagement with education
  • Support the delivery of a trauma‑informed and restorative approach to learning
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
  • Holds a HLTA qualification, or willing to work towards one
  • A qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy equivalent to at least level 2 of the National Vocational Qualifications framework
  • Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting.
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEND
