Job description

Specification for the HLT role at Wimbledon.

Our Rolling Stock client requires 8 x technicians ASAP.

While experience in rolling stock is preferable, it is not essential. They have highlighted that Avionic Technicians would be a good fit for this role.

Essential skills include strong electrical fault-finding skills and software diagnosis.

Working Days & Nights: 4 on 4 off.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Reliability Shift Manager, as part of a small technical team, you will assist the Fleet Operator with corrective mechanical and electrical maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on the Class 701 South West Rail fleet of trains. You will ensure that all maintenance at the depot complies with company processes, procedures, and safety regulations.

This is a safety-critical environment. All tasks must ensure the operator can achieve and maintain the reliability and availability targets for the trains. You will also assist the Operator during service failures and help resolve issues on the network.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum qualification: NVQ Level 3 in an electrical discipline.
Experience required:
  • Rail industry experience is desirable.
  • Proficiency with laptops and diagnostic tools for fault determination.
  • Ability to work from maintenance manuals and schematics.
  • Experience in mechanical or electrical fault finding and repairs.
  • Troubleshooting and evidence gathering skills.
Person profile:
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of Electrical Engineering.
