Overview

HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter (Swindon)

Location: Swindon

Salary: £41,000 basic, OTE £45,000 plus overtime at time and a half

Hours: 40 per week, various shifts available

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

Role

We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter to join a busy workshop in Swindon. You will maintain, repair, and service Mercedes-Benz trucks to keep vehicles safe, compliant, and on the road. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver quality work while developing your technical skills with ongoing training and career progression.

Responsibilities
  • Perform major and minor repairs on HGVs
  • Carry out regular inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose faults and support repair planning with the team
  • Maintain accurate workshop records and complete relevant paperwork
  • Carry out wheel alignment, tyre fitting, and vehicle documentation
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant working environment
Skills and Qualifications
  • Essential
  • Level 3 qualification in HGV Vehicle Repair and Maintenance (NVQ, City & Guilds or IMI)
  • Experience performing diagnostic and service repairs on HGVs
  • Ability to identify worn or faulty components to DVSA standards
  • Full UK driving licence for relevant vehicle classes
  • Desirable
  • Experience with advanced diagnostics and vehicle systems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
