A recruitment agency is seeking Class 2 Refuse Collection Drivers to work with the local council in a long-term role. Qualifications

Job description

Guidant Global are recruiting Class 2 Refuse Collection Drivers for the Brighton and Hove Council to cover Brighton and the surrounding areas. This is a long-term position and does require commitment on your part.

Shift times

Monday to Friday, 06.00-Finish. Occasional weekend days will be required, particularly during peak summer seasons and around Bank Holidays.

Pay

£17.47 per hour.

Job role

Responsible for driving a Class 2 vehicle and operating the machinery for the refuse loading.

Responsibilities

• Taking responsibility for the safety of your team.
• Reporting any issues to the Transport team, including vehicle and machinery concerns and faults, missed collection reasons and any issues encountered on the route.
• Collecting and emptying commercial and residential waste and recycling refuse bins.
• Happy to load when requirements dictate, requiring coverage on foot of long distances.
• Guiding the driver in crowded areas and through tight situations.
• Attending training as required to remain compliant with Health and Safety regulations.
• Comply with regular DVLA checks.
• Adherence to all regulations.
• A site induction and full training of the job role will be provided with familiarisation of the local areas.

Requirements

• A full and valid Class 2 LGV / HGV vehicle licence.
• Have no more than 6 points on your licence.
• Valid digital tacho card.
• Valid CPC card.
• Have a minimum of one years' experience driving a class 2 vehicle in the UK.
• Being personable as you will be working amongst the local community.
• Able to lift heavy objects, including pushing and pulling refuse and recycling bins.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Previous experience of driving a refuse lorry is preferred but not essential.
• Own transport preferred due to the shift start and finish times.
