HGV Mechanic General Haulage
Location: Preston
Salary: GBP41,600 per annum
Hours: Monday Friday, 7:00 am 4:00 pm or 8:00 am 5:00 pm

The Role:

We re looking for a confident and capable HGV Mechanic who can take full ownership of vehicle maintenance and repairs with minimal supervision. Here s what you ll be doing:

• Maintain and manage a small fleet of HGVs to ensure peak condition and roadworthiness.

• Carry out regular servicing, MOT prep, and six-weekly vehicle inspections.

• Complete ad-hoc repairs and routine maintenance tasks.

• Diagnose mechanical issues and perform inspections on rigid HGVs.

• Use diagnostic tools and interpret outputs in line with manufacturer standards.

• Sign off work and documentation (Level 3 qualification required).

• Follow standard operating procedures and maintain detailed maintenance records.

• Order necessary parts and ensure all work meets health and safety regulations.

About You:

• Proven experience in HGV maintenance and repair.

• Level 3 qualification is essential to sign off vehicle work.

• Confident working independently without managerial oversight.

• Strong understanding of vehicle systems and diagnostics.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Class 2 driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
