  • Keep the company's PDA, fuel card, and credit card secure and safe at all times.
  • Obtain relevant signatures, manage the collection, safekeeping, and delivery of keys, belongings, documents, payments, etc., that are integral to the normal operating schedule.
  • Obtain photographic evidence of vehicles and damage in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
  • Ensure that vehicles are kept in a clean condition, both internally and externally, and deliver vehicles for scheduled services or repairs as advised by the transport department.
  • Liaise with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Observe and adhere to relevant health, safety, environment, and quality requirements when operating at other premises visited during the working day.
  • Report any accidents or damage promptly and in compliance with the company's accident reporting procedures.
  • Report any endorsements on the driving licence and keep the licence, driver's card, and CPC up to date.
  • Prepare a fixed-axle vehicle over 3500 kg in weight for the planned daily workload. This includes checking the cab, fluid levels, and performing a general inspection.
  • Monitor charge or fuel levels of the vehicle to meet the daily requirements of the urban schedule.
  • Monitor the vehicle for defects.

  • Apply protections, manual handling, and mechanical aids when loading or off‑loading goods.
  • Prepare, position, and secure goods appropriate for the goods type, vehicle type, and urban conditions.
  • Manage goods in transit, checking seals for signs of damage and leaks.
  • Plan and/or adapt a driving route to meet contractual arrangements, including single and multiple urban deliveries or collections.
  • Drive fixed‑axle vehicles over 3500 kg considering all relevant factors, including vehicle type, road surface, goods, environmental conditions, and vulnerable road users and pedestrians.
  • Use on‑board electronic systems in line with operating procedures.
  • Respond and adapt to urban driving incidents, accidents, roadworks, and hazards.
  • Manoeuvre fixed‑axle vehicles over 3500 kg on site, for example at a customer driveway, building site, or recycling centre.
  • Perform dynamic risk assessment of a site and take remedial action where necessary, such as adjusting or aborting a delivery or collection due to safety issues.
