Job description

HGV Class 2 Driver/ Operative

Industry: Environmental

Location: Isle of Wight

Hours: 06:30 - 15:30

Days: Monday - Friday (overtime may include weekends)

Duration: immediate start, Temporary ongoing

Responsibilities

• Collect domestic waste and recycling as part of a small team.
• Vehicle checks and reporting faults and defects.
• Safely navigate island roads, on specified routes and adherence to schedules.
• Collect and replace residential and trade bins.
• Loading and operating machinery, when required.
• Operate a Bartec tablet for route navigation, job logging and reporting.
• Adherence to health and safety, highways and driving regulations.

Training for this role will including loading duties, to train in the operation of the equipment.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Class 2 (Category C) Driver’s licence, CPC (Driver Qualification Card) and Tachograph (Driver Card).
• Must be able to work well as part of a team and be physically fit, due to nature of duties, including the ability to walk for distances in all weathers and support operational tasks beyond driving.
• Must have a good knowledge of the Island's road network.
• Must have own transport due to the location of the depot.
• Must be flexible with working hours.

Salary: £14.03 per hour worked. Overtime paid at time and a third over 42.5 hours per week.
