End-Point Assessor - Healthcare

Location: Sunderland

Contract: Freelance, ad-hoc assignments

Salary: Negotiable

Are you a healthcare professional looking to share your expertise in a new way? As an Independent End-Point Assessor (EPA), you'll step into a vital role within the apprenticeship journey - independently assessing and grading learners to ensure they are fully prepared for their future careers in healthcare. This is not a frontline care position. Instead, you\'ll use your knowledge and experience to evaluate competence, provide fair and consistent judgments, and play a key part in raising the standard of healthcare education.

The Role

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver final assessments for apprentices across healthcare standards
  • Conduct professional discussions, observations, and evidence reviews
  • Make accurate, consistent grading decisions
  • Prepare clear assessment reports and provide constructive feedback
  • Attend training and moderation sessions to ensure quality and consistency

Healthcare standards covered include: Adult Nursing Support, Maternity Support, Diagnostic Imaging, Theatre Support, Allied Health Professions Therapy Support, Healthcare Support Worker (Level 2), Assistant Practitioner (Level 5).

The Ideal Candidate
  • 2-5 years recent experience in healthcare (relevant to the standard assessed)
  • NMC PIN or equivalent registration (for clinical pathways)
  • An assessor or teaching qualification (A1, TAQA, CAVA, PGCE, AET)
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
