Job summary

A leading health care provider in Neath is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to deliver compassionate end-of-life care during day shifts. This role involves a multidisciplinary approach, focusing on personal care, symptom management, and emotional support for patients and their loved ones. Job description

Were looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team in West Glamorgan providing compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care during day shifts.

As a Healthcare Assistant, youll be a vital part of a multidisciplinary team delivering holistic, person-centred end of life care. Working under the guidance of registered professionals, youll support patients and those important to them with personal care, symptom management, and emotional support.

Main duties of the job

Youll contribute to care planning, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a safe and dignified environment. This is a compassionate and hands-on role where youll make a meaningful difference in peoples lives during their final stages, while also supporting their loved ones through grief and bereavement.

About us

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

Job responsibilities

Salary:Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AFC) £24,833 per annum + enhancements

Contract:Permanent, Full-Time 37.5 hours per week. Day Shifts Monday Friday, between the hours of 08:00am 10:00pm.

Based:Community Based West Glamorgan

What were looking for:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent Level 2 qualification (e.g. NCFE, BTEC), plus functional skills in numeracy and literacy at Level 2
  • At least 6 months of recent care delivery experience in a health or social care setting
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to hold person-centred, empathetic conversations and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of palliative and end of life care, including holistic care planning and symptom management
  • Ability to plan and prioritise care, respond to changes in patient condition, and escalate appropriately
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
