Job description
Overview

A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

We are advertising a Healthcare assistant/Therapy assistant post for the South Lakes Rapid Response and Virtual Ward Team. This post is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is ready to develop and build on their existing skill set within the healthcare sector. Our service supports the 2 hour community response mandate across the South Lakes locality. South Lakes Rapid Response is a short-term service which offers a range of interventions. The team supports management of medical crises to prevent hospital admission and provide a safe alternative to hospital for patients through community-based acute health and care delivery. We also facilitate safe and timely discharge from hospital and provide rehabilitation to aid recovery towards independence.

As a Healthcare/therapy assistant within the team you will work closely under guidance from a multi professional team of Medics, consultant practitioners, Advanced clinical practitioners, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners and other Therapy Assistants supporting the implementation of a range of a range of delegated interventions across nursing and therapy supporting care and activities of daily living.

Some examples include: Venepuncture (blood sampling), taking clinical observations, fitting equipment and supporting administration of medications. Your work will be essential and hugely rewarding as you support our frail population to remain in their own homes with care support and therapy programmes.

As an experienced multi-disciplinary team, we will ensure you are well supported in this development with full training provided. You will make a huge difference to people's lives when they are presenting at their most vulnerable.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
