Overview

We are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in Middlesbrough. This is a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week) working nights from 10pm to 7am. The salary is on the Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, aligned with AFC Band 2 £24,465 pro rata per annum plus enhancements. Based in Middlesbrough Community.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will provide essential support to patients and their families during challenging times. Our team offers free specialist palliative care and support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses, along with emotional support to loved ones.

We emphasise one-to-one care and opportunities for meaningful interactions with patients and their families in their own homes. You will work independently within the patient’s established care plan and use your initiative to support care delivery.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, administering medications, maintaining detailed records, and offering emotional support to both patients and their families.

What We’re Looking For
  • S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma
  • Relevant palliative community experience
  • Emotional strength and the ability to work independently; we provide ongoing training and support
  • Recent experience of caring for people with life-limiting illness or palliative care needs
  • UK driving licence with access to a car and business insurance; travel up to a 25 mile radius from home
