A healthcare provider in Peterborough is seeking a compassionate and motivated Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join their team. We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our practice team. As an HCA, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinicians and ensuring the smooth delivery of patient care. We are a friendly team based across two sites working as one. All of the team work on both sites caring for our patients.
Bretton Health Centre is situated in the heart of Bretton with car parking, good transport links and shops near by. Our Bretton practice has just under 12,000 patient's has a good diverse of patient needs.
Park Medical Centre is centrally located in the city centre and in a leafy conservation area. We have car parking, good transport links and we are close to the City Centre. Our Park practice has just under 9,000 patients with a good mix of patient needs.

Job Purpose
Thepost holder will work under supervision of the nursing team and undertaketasks/duties delegated appropriately. The post holder will work collaborativelywith the general practice team to meet patients needs.
Duties andResponsibilities:
a)Undertake and record and follow guidelines for the tasks for which you havereceived appropriate training.
b)Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathologylaboratory
d)Prepare and maintain environment and equipment before and after patient careinterventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minoroperations
e)Assists in raising awareness of health and wellbeing and health promotions
f)Monitoring and recording of blood pressure
g)Fitting and instruction of 24-hr blood pressure machine
h)Measuring and recording physiological measurements in routine presentations:pulse rate and rhythm, height, weight, body mass, blood pressure.
i)Carrying out ECGs and reporting back to the GP
j)Carrying out Registration Health Checks
k)Giving dietary and lifestyle advice in accordance with written protocols /include weight management clinic
m)Other clinical duties identified by Practice Nurse or Doctor in accordance withwritten protocols
o)Safely administer injections under PSD
p)Working in a variety of environments, from the practice clinics to residentialaccommodation and patients' own homes, the post holder will help the practicemeet the needs of elderly, disabled or vulnerable patients who may not be able toeasily visit the practice.
a)Maintain and control stock levels of drugs, dressings and other materialsaccording to the needs of the practice
b)Monitor stocks (with Lead Practice Nurse) and condition of medical equipment.In conjunction with the Practice Nurse respond to requests from GPs and Nursesfor maintenance, repairs and renewal of equipment
c)Be responsible (with Lead Practice Nurse) for stocking the treatment rooms bothclinically and for administrative purposes
d)In conjunction with the Nurses, to ensure Emergency Box is always ready foruse.

Makingeffective use of training to update knowledge and skills
Applyappropriate infection control/hand hygiene measures when hand washing,collection and handling of laboratory specimens, segregation and disposal ofwaste materials, management of clinical equipment, reporting of sharps injuriesand dealing with bodily/fluid spillages
Allstaff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under theHealth and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974.
