Job summary

A reputable construction firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to oversee safety performance across various projects. The successful candidate will monitor SHE practices, support Directors and Managers, and ensure compliance with health and SHE legislation. Qualifications

Overview

Health and Safety Manager role with a reputable Main Contractor located in London & Home Counties. The successful applicant will support the refurbishment of a commercial project valued at £100 M, working across new build fit‑out and refurbishment schemes ranging in value from £1 M to £40 M.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the company’s safety and environmental performance and that of its sub‑contractors, producing SHE support reports for management.
  • Investigate and provide guidance on hazardous practices or operations, exercising the power to cease all further work until adequate remedial action has been taken.
  • Review absences due to accident or injury at work and ensure that reportable occurrences are notified to the relevant enforcing authority.
  • Maintain the company’s SHE management system and associated documentation.
  • Assist and support Directors, Managers, Department Heads and Supervisors in implementing the company SHE policy.
Qualifications
  • Experience with asbestos, demolition, scaffolding and fit‑out essential.
  • Background within commercial and retail fit‑out projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of current and upcoming health, SHE legislation required.
