Job summary

A leading civils and utility services organisation is searching for a Health and Safety Manager in Barnsley. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing health and safety policies for maintenance and capital investment projects. Health and Safety Manager

Barnsley | Circa £55,000 + Car or Allowance

We have been engaged by a leading civils and utility services organisation to recruit a Health and Safety Manager. The role is focused on helping to ensure the safe delivery of maintenance and capital investment projects on long‑term utility contracts. Our client has an excellent track record across health and safety, and this role is critical to its continued success.

Responsibilities
  • Taking a lead role in implementing health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and keeping updated with key changes.
  • Engaging with Senior Managers, clarifying responsibilities and answering technical health and safety related queries.
  • Conducting audits, inspections, and accident investigations, using results to seek areas for improvement and development in health and safety.
  • Engaging with clients and other external stakeholders, acting as a key point of contact for the business.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a similar role ideally within civil engineering, telecoms or utilities.
  • A NEBOSH Diploma and ideally a member of IOSH (or equivalent).
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A strong technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation, compliance and regulations.
