Role Summary

As a Health and Safety Advisor with us, you will:

Responsibilities
  • Be an integral part of our dynamic team, contributing your expertise each day to deliver high-quality health, safety, and wellbeing services in a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Use your expertise and experience to provide advice on health, safety, and wellbeing standards and strategies.
  • Provide assurance about risk management and health and safety legislation.
  • Support all levels of the workforce to understand and manage risk, health and safety legislation, policy commitments and organisation wide standards and arrangements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Council's services through delivering the Council's Health and Safety Management plan including the development and monitoring of action plans.
  • Share good practice across services and help foster a culture of safety and wellbeing.
  • Advise staff on their responsibilities for health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Support in delivering health and safety audits and workplace inspections.
  • Review accidents and incidents.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of health, safety, and wellbeing training.
  • Support the review and updating of corporate policies, standards, guidance and arrangements.

About the Team

Warwickshire County Council has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic qualified health and safety professional who is seeking to develop their skills in a supportive environment within our dynamic Workforce Health and Safety Team. This is a chance to be part of a friendly, professional team that supports a range of services and workforce. This role is based in Warwick, but you will be required to travel around the County, engaging with various teams and departments. This travel aspect adds variety to your work and allows you to make a significant impact across the entire County.

Qualifications
  • A NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH).
  • Recent experience providing professional-level health and safety advice and support.
  • Confidence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage with a wide and varied audience.
  • A flexible approach to work, the ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and possess excellent IT skills using Microsoft Office 365 Applications.
  • The ability to work under your own initiative and be highly organised, as well as part of a team.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle, with insurance that covers business use.
