We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor (HSEQ Officer) to join a leading maritime services company based in Hull. In this role, you’ll be the vital link between vessel crews and the wider HSEQ team, promoting a strong safety culture, conducting audits, and supporting continuous improvement. It’s a hands-on, site-focused position ideal for someone with maritime or high-risk industry experience who thrives on solving real-world safety challenges and wants to grow within a supportive, forward-thinking organisation.

The Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for:

  • Promoting a strong safety culture by regularly visiting vessels and engaging with crews to understand operational challenges.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the area's HSEQ plan in line with corporate strategy.
  • Conducting internal ISM audits and coordinating external SMC audits.
  • Managing low-level incident investigations and supporting higher-level ones.
  • Gathering and analysing HSEQ data to inform improvements and decision-making.
  • Providing out-of-hours DPA (Designated Person Ashore) cover on a rotational basis.
  • Responding to HSEQ-related queries from vessels and onshore management teams.

The Health & Safety Advisor will have:

  • Maritime or small vessel experience, ideally with an STCW certificate of competency (deck or engine).
  • Knowledge of risk assessment, hazard identification, and ISM code requirements.
  • Experience conducting audits and training, with the ability to challenge non-compliance constructively.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/14001 and basic safety legislation.
