About the role

We're looking for a visionary leader to take charge of two critical functions at a pivotal moment in our journey. As the Head of Treasury and Tax at Hargreaves Lansdown, you'll not only optimise financial resources and ensure compliance—you'll help redefine how these areas operate for us as a newly private entity for the first time in 16 years. This is a unique opportunity to put your strategic thinking into action and align treasury and tax with our ambitious growth plans.

  • Implement treasury systems and ensure regulatory compliance.
Tax Management
  • Create and execute tax strategy to minimise risk.
  • Oversee corporate tax compliance and accurate reporting.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely compliance with UK Corporation Tax and VAT requirements, oversight of the Polish equivalents, and management of cross‑border issues.
  • Advise on tax implications for new products and initiatives.
  • Monitor legislation and recommend proactive adjustments.
Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing treasury and tax team.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to shape financial strategy.
  • Present insights and risks to the Board and Treasury Committee.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices.
About you
  • Experienced leader with proven track record in a Treasury function for a business with high volume cash flow.
  • Deep knowledge of treasury operations, cash management, and financial instruments.
  • Technical knowledge of the UK's CT, VAT and Employer Duties regimes.
  • Experienced in identifying process weaknesses and driving process improvement.
  • A team‑player adept at cultivating strong working relationships with the Finance team, stakeholders in the wider business, and external parties such as banks, HMRC and advisers.
  • Reliable and trustworthy, with an attention to detail and very high levels of integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and confident in communicating complex technical treasury and tax issues to internal and external stakeholders.
Interview process

A 2‑stage interview process consisting of competency‑based questions and a presentation. There will also be a leadership psychometric assessment.
