Job description
Overview of the role:

The role provides strategic leadership for all Development Planning functions, overseeing the preparation of Development Plans, the Council’s London Plan input, and ensuring policy aligns with local and national planning frameworks.

Responsibilities and Dutiesh3>
  • Strategic Leadership: Lead and manage all aspects of Development Planning, including policy development, Development Plans, S106/CIL obligations, and Planning Committee matters.
  • Service Delivery & Performance: Ensure high-quality, efficient, and compliant services through effective systems, targets, and performance management.
  • Finance & Resource Management: Oversee budgets and allocate resources efficiently, planning for future service demands and maximising value.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, motivate, and develop high-performing teams, managing performance and supporting staff growth.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Representation: Maintain strong partnerships with elected members, local authorities, agencies, and the community, representing the Council locally and nationally.
