Job description

Head of Operations will manage the delivery of all our agency marketing services and must be a highly skilled B2B marketing agency professional. You are likely to be looking to take your existing hands‑on experience managing a team and clients into a role with more strategic impact and significant development potential.

We are expanding rapidly (over 40% increase in revenue over the past year), with a small existing team. You will need to undertake careful ongoing planning, assessment and management of our operational capacity as we grow, to include recruitment as well as sourcing and managing third‑party resources as required.

The role will require hands‑on ability but will also have responsibility for co‑ordination and resource planning for the overall team, including:

  • Maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service.
  • Understanding the objectives of our clients and how we can meet them; making reasoned recommendations to clients regarding the services that would be beneficial to them.
  • Constant analysis of the effectiveness of campaigns, evaluating how these can be improved and taking corrective actions.
  • Identifying opportunities to extend our services to clients.
  • Continuously improving our efficiency and day‑to‑day operations, what we do and how we do it.
  • Commercial management – balancing internal and external resource levels against revenues to ensure ongoing profitability.
  • Creating and managing timelines for complex web projects and integrated marketing campaigns.

The role will involve working closely with the Managing Director and other members of the leadership team to ensure our long‑term success, profitability and rapid growth.

Key Skills and Attributes:

You will be:

  • A highly motivated self‑starter with excellent organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Passionate about leading, managing and motivating a high‑performing, multi-disciplinary team. You will naturally set a culture of openness, performance, learning and continuous improvement.
  • Extremely knowledgeable across multiple digital marketing disciplines, with a deep understanding of how to utilise them effectively. You will know how to integrate campaigns and use data and analytics to continuously improve them. You are comfortable managing:
    • Inbound and Content marketing
    • Marketing Automation, nurture & email marketing programmes
    • B2B Database development
    • Paid Search
    • Social outreach – particularly LinkedIn
    • SEO
    • Creative Design
    • Web design, UX and build
    • Offline activity includes Direct Mail, and events
  • Able to understand buying motivations and can develop compelling messages for decision‑makers across a broad scope of job functions and sectors (focused on B2B).
  • Commercially savvy and understand the drivers of profitability.
  • Able to work to strict deadlines across multiple simultaneous projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Confident and compelling in expressing an objective viewpoint whether in the discussion, written or presentational format.
Experience:

You will have an extensive background in marketing agency operations (or working in‑house across multiple brands with client‑type relationships). This will include building and leading a multi‑disciplinary team.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • How you have developed content and messaging that engages buyers.
  • Your experience integrating and effectively managing 3rd party and remote workers as part of an operational team.
  • High level of hands‑on technical proficiency with marketing technology. This will include:
    • Marketing Automation platforms & CRM
    • PPC Management
    • Social media Management
    • UI/UX and optimisation
    • SEO
    • Analytics
    • Project Management
  • Proven experience of working directly with clients at the highest levels and developing trusted‑partner style relationships.
  • Commercial management experience including budget ownership, resource allocation and prioritisation. You are accustomed to ensuring projects are delivered within tight budget constraints.
  • Ability to engage a variety of stakeholders and to ensure their needs are met.
  • Previous implementation of systems and processes to ensure multiple overlapping and complex projects can be delivered simultaneously on time and within budget.

You will be making a significant contribution to our business strategy and will oversee the delivery of marketing efforts for the agency itself as well as our operational planning, implementation and service delivery.
