Senior Leadership Role | Permanent | Hybrid working

OVERVIEW

AtkinsClarke are proud to be supporting a large, national, values‑led organisation with the appointment of a Head of IT. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping and delivering the organisation’s technology strategy, overseeing IT operations at scale and leading a major multi‑year digital transformation programme.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, IT & Procurement, the role sits on the Strategic Leadership Team and plays a critical part in enabling organisational performance, resilience and future growth.

OPPORTUNITY

As Head of IT, you’ll provide both strategic and operational leadership across all technology services, leading a large multi‑disciplinary IT function. You will own the IT strategy and roadmap, ensure resilient and secure systems, and play a leading role in delivering major systems replacement and digital transformation initiatives.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Developing and delivering a future‑focused IT strategy aligned to organisational priorities
  • Leading a large IT function covering service desk, infrastructure, applications, data and digital transformation
  • Playing a central role in a multi‑year digital and systems transformation programme, including core finance and billing systems
  • Ensuring robust cyber security, data protection and regulatory compliance
  • Overseeing national IT operations, service performance and ITIL‑aligned processes
  • Leading data architecture, systems integration and reporting capability
  • Managing IT budgets, business cases and cost optimisation initiatives
  • Providing senior technology advice to Executive Leadership, Board and governance forums
  • Building a high‑performing, values‑driven IT culture and leadership team
PERSON

We’re looking for an experienced, values‑led IT leader who combines strategic thinking with strong operational delivery and people leadership.

You will ideally bring:

  • Senior IT leadership experience within a large, multi‑site organisation
  • Proven experience delivering complex system replacement or transformation programmes
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, cyber security, applications and data architecture
  • Experience operating in regulated or data‑sensitive environments
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence at Executive and Board level
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget and supplier management
  • A calm, structured approach to risk, change and stakeholder management

Experience within care, health, housing, charity or not‑for‑profit environments is desirable but not essential.
