We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Head of Health & Safety to join our team at CHP. If you are passionate about patient care for locally based services, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are looking to grow your career we want to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

You will be the professional Head of Health & Safety for CHP, covering corporate, occupational and operational responsibilities. This is a high-profile, visible role across the organisation ensuring that Health and Safety responsibilities are coordinated and delivered across the CHP estate and corporate organisation.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Diploma Level 6 qualified (or equivalent) for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Chartered Membership of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH).
  • BSc in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Hold a relevant qualification or ability to display competence in Fire Safety Management and the undertaking and reviewing of Fire Risk Assessments (a minimum of NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent).
  • Hold a relevant qualification or ability to display competence in Water Safety.
Experience
  • Hands on experience of implementing and overseeing a Health & Safety Management System and processes, corporately, in individual buildings and across building portfolios.
  • Experience of producing high quality reports and correspondence, and giving clear verbal reports and presentations.
  • As subject matter expert, technical credibility and an excellent understanding of current Health & Safety Legislation.
  • Experienced and skilled in engaging staff and stakeholders in creating a positive health and safety culture.
  • Experience and knowledge of corporate, operational and occupational health and safety management issues, enforcement procedures and policies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written form, including Policies, Board level papers and undertaking reviews.
  • Knowledge of and an understanding of the NHS operating environment.
