Overview

Our client is a payments organisation providing an array of physical and virtual cards to their clients. They are currently seeking a hands on and strategic Head of Finance who will report to the Group CEO and respective Boards and be ultimately responsible for managing the Finance function across the Group, including the UK and Cyprus companies.

In particular, you will:

  • Oversee daily settlement and reconciliation with card schemes and safeguarding balances
  • Oversee the Finance team of 4
  • Perform safeguarding audits
  • Work closely with the senior leadership on value creation, cost and budget management, financial implications of decisions, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding and taxation optimisation
  • Be responsible for developing long term financial projections in line with the growth of the Company.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory and statutory financial reporting.
  • Drive automation of reporting obligations through understanding data flows, and familiarisation with various reporting platforms.
  • Maintaining financial policies and ensuring appropriate implementation and maintenance of function specific internal controls.
  • Submit monthly management accounts in a timely manner. Support the teams with annual financial audits and ensure timely submission of audited accounts and other reports to relevant bodies.
  • Develop feasibility studies for new acquisitions as well as develop, implement and update financial controls.
  • Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments
  • Oversee major financial processes and provide guidance and support to the Board
  • Streamline existing procedures to create uniform finance functions across Group entities, automate the finance function
  • Ensure the Board is alerted of forthcoming complex, contentious or sensitive issues affecting the company that have a financial impact
  • Report financial and management information centrally for group consolidation.
  • Report cashflow balances and requirements centrally for group consolidation
Required skills
  • 5+ years of EMI experience, previous exposure to fintech/payments company working with Mastercard / Discover
  • Can “roll up sleeves” to get things done and also think strategically
  • Knowledge of payments and knowledge of working within a regulated framework
  • Have the right attitude to work in a team whilst maintaining tight fiscal and procedural control throughout the organisation.
  • Be problem-solving, analytical, and forward-thinking.
  • Strong communication skills, troubleshooting abilities, and an in-depth eye for detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, where you have succeeded as working part of a team and supported others in their growth.
  • Experience rolling out Xero is a plus
  • Ideally qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification.
