Head of Finance - Redruth - £85,000 - £95,000 + bonus


Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to be working once again with our long-standing client to support them to recruit a new Head of Finance. The organisation is entering a pivotal phase of its development, underpinned by significant recent investment and a clear strategy to transition from project development into full operational delivery. This appointment represents a rare opportunity to join a growing, purpose-led business with exciting long-term plans and genuine momentum.


Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and based on site near Redruth, the Head of Finance will lead the site-based finance function and manage a small, capable team. The role will play a central part in shaping the company’s financial infrastructure as activity levels increase and the business progresses into its next phase. This is a broad, hands-on role combining technical financial reporting, planning and analysis, treasury, tax, risk management and systems development. The successful candidate will work closely with senior operational, technical and project teams, alongside external auditors, advisers and stakeholders, and will have regular exposure to the Board and Audit Committee.


Responsibilities


  • Oversight of monthly management accounts, consolidations and internal reporting

  • Preparation of Board and Audit Committee papers and financial presentations

  • Leading interim and year-end reporting under IFRS / UK GAAP and managing the external audit process

  • Ownership of financial models, cashflow forecasting and scenario planning

  • Supporting fundraising activity, capital investment decisions and longer-term strategic planning

  • Managing treasury activities, insurance programmes and financial risk

  • Oversight of tax compliance and liaison with external tax advisers

  • Playing a key role in finance systems implementation as the business scales

Qualifications


  • A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)

  • Bringing 5-10 years’ post-qualification experience

  • Confident preparing statutory accounts, technical accounting papers and Board-level reporting

  • An advanced Excel user with strong financial modelling and analytical capability

  • Comfortable engaging with non-finance stakeholders and communicating complex issues clearly

  • Organised, proactive and able to operate effectively in a site-based environment


Experience of systems implementations, risk management, insurance programmes or AIM regulations would be advantageous but not essential.
