Leadership of the International Operations of a world-leading, agrichemicals business

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong, experienced leader to join a highly regarded, privately-owned agrichemicals business. Based at the company’s international office in Harpenden, this US company manufactures and markets crop protection products for the global market; managing their sale, order, distribution and legal registration from the UK location. Working collaboratively throughout the worldwide organisation the office provides central SOP, product legislation, customs, associated contractual advice and administrative support and is a key part of future planned growth. As such, the office is tasked to proactively meet future customer needs, be externally focused, support existing clients and commercial partnerships whilst encouraging, engaging in and delivering exemplary customer service.

Reporting to the European based Director with multiple strong relationships to the various Heads of Department at the US headquarters, the appointee will be responsible for all the administrative and strategic leadership of the UK-based office, comprising 20 employees who work internationally ensuring the timely and accurate execution of worldwide sales and associated shipping and legislation. As the senior person on site, the appointee will provide leadership and consistency to the UK team, ensure policies, processes and office operations are in place, develop effective HR guidelines and ensure that the office and facilities are proactively equipped and maintained. This is a senior and influential role and the right individual will enjoy the opportunity to contribute to the overall long-term development and commercial growth of the wider business. As such, cultural fit will be of paramount importance, as will an entrepreneurial and international approach to develop and deliver the company’s stated aspirations.

Candidates, ideally qualified to high academic or professional level in business, management or a related subject with a good science understanding, will have demonstrable experience of the inspirational leadership of similar sized organisations or projects, deliver strategic development and be comfortable to lead and organise experienced teams to deliver desired outcomes. The individual will possess a high level of integrity, the desire to build strong relationships both internally and externally across the business along with the development and successful closure of new opportunities. The appointee will demonstrate drive, tenacity, ‘presence’, strong financial awareness and be a skilled HR leader coupled with exemplary communication & presentation skills. Listening, influencing and negotiation will all be key competencies along with strong analysis and decision-making skills and a positive, enthusiastic outlook which will engage others to deliver exceptional results.
