Job summary

A healthcare provider is seeking an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join its Head and Neck team in York. The role involves delivering specialist assessment and treatment for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties related to head and neck conditions. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Speech and Language Therapy, registration with HCPC, and experience in a relevant setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
  • Current registration with HCPC and membership of RCSLT.
  • Experience working with adults with complex swallowing and communication needs.
  • Previous NHS experience.
  • Experience in head and neck caseload management is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist speech and language therapy assessment and treatment.
  • Provide expert input for patients with voice and swallowing needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for coordinated care.
  • Maintain clinical records and contribute to documentation.
  • Participate in patient education and training.
  • Support junior staff and students, promoting evidence-based practice.
