A medical practice in Birmingham is looking for a General Practice Health Care Assistant to support nursing and administrative teams. The ideal candidate will have NVQ level 3 certification and experience in phlebotomy and chronic disease management. Skills in communication and teamwork are essential. This role offers part-time hours in a supportive environment until March 2026.
Anexperienced General Practice Health Care Assistant/Nursing Assistant/Newlyqualified Nurseis required to work at Tudor Practice Stockland Green GPpractice, Stockland Green Medical Centre in Erdington. Candidate should havea minimum NVQ level 3 certificates or equivalent in GP practice health care
The ideal candidate should have previous experienceinPhlebotomy, Blood Pressures, ECG, ABPM, Dressings, and Basic Assessmentfor chronic disease management, New Patient Health Checks, Healthpromotion/screening and health education work among other skills
Candidates should also be able to follow instructions and procedures,have good communication skills including listening, organisation skills andalso observational skills
Excellentfacilities and you will work in a supportive and learning environment.
Candidateshould be reliable, punctual, trustworthy and be able to work as part of a teamand independently.
Thepractice uses TPP System 1 clinical system and should also be competent inusing Excel and Word.

The HCA works within the organisationand supports the practice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery ofclinical and administrative services. This role involves working as part of thepractice multi-disciplinary team, delivering care within their scope ofpractice to the entitled patient population.
Having completed the CareCertificate or equivalent qualification, the HCA will deliver and assistclinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, healthpromotion, long-term condition management and patient education while alsosupporting the administrative team on an as-required basis.
The HCA will work under the supervision of aregistered clinician while developing competencies in community-based care.

The following are the core responsibilities . There may be, on occasion, or a requirement to carry outother tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels.
a. Undertaking new patienthealth checks
b.Providingsupport to GPs by taking patient history and baseline observations prior to thepatient seeing the GP
c.Carryingout baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature,pulse rate, recording all findings accurately
d.Facilitatingroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
e.Carryingout BMI checks as directed
f. all vaccinations i.e. B12, Flu, Pneumo, RSV, Shingles
g.Actingas a chaperone as required
h. Phlebotomy including LTBI
i.ConductingECGs as requested
j.Signpostingsome received correspondence to others, e.g., clinical pharmacist, practicenurse
k.Extractingall the required information from clinical letters, applying medical codes asrequired and adding these to patient notes
l.Supportingpractice patients by arranging appointments, onward referrals, clinical testsand follow up appointments.
m. Explainingtreatment procedures to patients
n.SupportingGP(s) in liaising with external agencies such as helping to arrange patientadmission while the GP(s) continue with the consultation.
o.wound care
p.Undertakingall mandatory training and induction programmes
q.Attendinga formal appraisal with their manager at least every 6 months. Once a performance/trainingobjective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so thatnew objectives can be agreed
r.Contributingto public health campaigns (e.g., flu clinics) through advice or direct care,including opportunistic health promotional programmes
s.Maintaininga clean, tidy and effective working area at all times
In addition to the primary responsibilities,the HCA/GP assistant/newly qualified may be requested to:
a.Demonstratethe ownership of responsibility for personal development, learning andperformance
b.Demonstrateperformance of skills and activities to others undertaking similar work
c.Attendrelevant annual updates and shared practice learning
d.Participatein practice audit as directed by the audit lead
e.Participatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
f.Supportand participate in shared learning throughout the PCN
g.Undertakeany tasks consistent with the level of the post and the scope of the role,ensuring that work is delivered in a timely and effective manner
