A national training and education specialist in Exeter is seeking a Hairdressing Apprenticeship Tutor for a part-time, fixed-term role. Role Information At our Hair & Beauty Academies we offer more than just education – we provide a dynamic, hands‑on experience in fully operational salons that mirror real‑world environments. Learners gain practical skills while training in a professional setting, supported by a wide range of accredited courses spanning Levels 1 to 4. With 13 academies across the country and growing, we’re proud to be building the future of the hair and beauty industry. As a Hairdressing Apprenticeship Tutor you’ll bring your industry expertise to life through our comprehensive training programmes, delivering and assessing courses for apprentices. With a learner‑focused approach you’ll empower learners to achieve their full potential and consistently deliver outstanding results. Flexibility is important in this role – working days and hours may vary depending on new course start dates and academy timetables. Tutors are contracted between Monday and Sunday, from 07:00am to 10:00pm. This role is a part‑time, fixed term contract for 12 months.

Duties
  • Deliver and assess Hairdressing programmes up to Level 3 in line with awarding body and company standards.
  • Deliver high‑quality sessions in men’s hairdressing, with a willingness to upskill to Level 2 Barbering.
  • Plan and implement Individual Learning Plans and schemes of work.
  • Set SMART targets for learners, monitor progress and ensure timely achievement of qualifications.
  • Support learners with contextualised Functional Skills and wider learning requirements as appropriate.
  • Prepare learners for End Point Assessment, ensuring readiness through progress reviews and tailored support.
  • Track and record learner performance using the LCG e‑portfolio and tracking systems.
  • Provide impartial Information, Advice and Guidance to learners, including exit advice on progression and employment opportunities.
  • Ensure safeguarding and Prevent responsibilities are consistently upheld in all learner interactions.
  • Contribute to internal and external quality assurance processes, including audits and inspections.
  • Ensure all records, registers, portfolios and reports are accurate, up to date and audit‑ready.
  • Actively seek learner and employer feedback, achieving targets for satisfaction (95%+ learner satisfaction).
  • Participate in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities to maintain vocational, teaching and sales expertise.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safeguarding, health & safety, IT, data protection and equality policies.
Experience
  • Relevant industry experience as a professional hairstylist.
  • Experience in delivering and assessing apprenticeships would be advantageous.
  • Strong digital literacy, proficient in using online learning platforms and management systems.

Qualifications
  • Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Hairdressing (or equivalent professional qualification).
  • Competence in men’s hairdressing; willingness to complete a Level 2 Barbering qualification (if not already held).
  • Recognised teaching qualification (minimum Level 3 Award in Education & Training, preferred Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training) or be working towards.
  • Assessors Award (e.g., TAQA/A1, D32/D33) or be working towards.
