Gynaecology Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to work within the Gynae Oncology team at MFT, working alongside a multidisciplinary clinical and medical team – Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialists, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Macmillan Cancer Care Coordinator, Cancer Navigator and Gynae Oncology Matron/ACP – to deliver a supportive nursing service for patients and their families undergoing treatment and/or investigations for cancer conditions across all sites at MFT. The successful candidate will play a key role within the Advanced Nursing Team, providing individualized care to our patients and their families/carers through inpatient and outpatient care, holistic needs assessments and stratified follow‑up.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a specialist nursing service offering holistic, patient‑centred care to women who are being investigated with a high risk of malignancy, being treated and living beyond cancer. As a clinical nurse specialist the post holder will support and mentor junior colleagues within the Macmillan team, provide skills and knowledge for effective patient management, act as a clinical expert and professional resource within the multidisciplinary team, and lead on education and training to patients, carers and healthcare professionals with support from the Gynae Oncology Matron and other senior Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Experience
  • Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within the relevant speciality
