SUMMARY

The Francis Crick Institute (the Crick) and CBRE are working in partnership to deliver Hard FM services at the Crick and together we are jointly delivering the Graduate Apprenticeship Scheme. We will be sponsoring an apprenticeship each. We have jointly developed and will deliver the programme.

The Graduate Apprentice Engineer – Facilities and Infrastructure, reports to the Crick Head of EF&SS or CBRE Account Director and will be mentored / work with all the F&I Engineering Teams; Technical Support, Engineering Projects and Hard FM (CBRE Team). The apprentice will undertake a 3-year programme of technical, practical and management work experience, increasing in complexity over time, mapped to the UK engineering council spec for Incorporated / Chartered engineers with the IET. This will include attending a relevant technical training modules, workplace activity, competence assessment and completion of the required Institute evidence portfolio.

At completion of the apprenticeship, you will become a qualified and competent Professional Engineer to IEng or CEng with the IET with skills knowledge and experience in:

  • Building Services Engineering Operations and Management
  • Electrical Infrastructure
  • Building Management Systems
  • Life Safety Systems
  • Mechanical systems
  • Project Management
  • Compliance / H&S
  • Reliability Centred Maintenance
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

These include but not limited to.

  • Attend all required Technical Training Modules
  • Record practical work required for your course(s) / Engineering Council / Institute in the prescribed manner
  • Attend apprentice learning events run by the Crick/CBRE
  • Fully engage in review meetings with your manager and training provider
  • Maintain agreed progress in all theory and practical work required for your apprenticeship
  • To conduct work as required by your mentor / practical trainer
  • To gain experience and knowledge and engineering skills to enable you to become competent to work as you progress through your apprenticeship
  • Comply with Crick Policy and Procedures including but not limited to safety, health and sustainability
  • Follow direction on all Health and Safety procedures
  • Work within the parameters of agreed safe working practices according to your level of competence at the time
  • Challenge any practices or situations you consider to be unsafe
  • Always wear appropriate clothing and PPE
