AWE is looking for a Group Leader - Operations Manager.

We are currently recruiting for another Group Leader Operations Manager to join the Leadership Team in the Operations Function. This leader could be deployed in various large manufacturing Technology Centres throughout their career, so a background in explosives and/or nuclear operations would be desirable.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in Operations Management/Manufacturing and will lead large multi-disciplinary teams through delivery of product and functional based activities.

What will you be required to do?

• Provide leadership of a diverse and multidisciplinary team of managers, technicians, etc., to deliver all task outputs included in the single order book, to schedule and cost (order book value £25-50M) and projects directly related to process and capability (£1-5M).
• Deliver improvements in performance in all aspects of operations.
• Maintain and improve relationships with US and other international partners.
• Maintain high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality and be a great team player.
• Additional accountabilities for this job profile may be defined and appointed through the Chief Engineer Management Arrangements, with appointees listed within the Company Design Authorities and Technical Authorities, as held in the company management system.

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

• Graduate level of degree qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• The ability to lead, manage and direct key team members.
• Develop solutions to complex problems that require regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
• Build and maintain effective stakeholder management internally and externally.
• Managing operations (in compliance with the permit) - Managers that have specific accountability or responsibility for operations, Maintenance inspection and testing.
• Delivery of the single order book and positively respond to changing operational circumstances with agility.
• Evidence of managing resources to maximise utilisation and efficiency of operations.
• Responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of 'Basis of Estimates' for all production processes.
• Establish and maintain a highly effective team, and working practices, to achieve maximum equipment and facility availability.
• Evidence of taking responsibility for compliance with Company procedures and governance requirements.
• Evidence of being responsible for process and occupational safety of all operations.
• Evidence of promoting and sponsoring operational excellence and drive all actions aimed at continuous process Improvement.
