Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: NORTH WEST CRICKET UNIONTo assist the North West Cricket Union’s Grounds Team in the preparation and maintenance of cricket facilities across the region. This role offers hands-on experience in sports turf management, with opportunities to develop practical skills in ground preparation, equipment use, and facility upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and maintenance of cricket pitches and outfields.
• Assist with mowing, rolling, marking, and general turf care under supervision.
• Help maintain machinery and equipment in a clean, safe working condition.
• Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning of grounds and surrounding areas.
• Set up and take down match and training equipment as required.

Skills and Qualifications

• Interest in outdoor, hands-on work or sports facility maintenance.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow safety procedures.
• Prepared to work in varying weather conditions.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Willingness to learn and undertake training as required.
• Previous experience in groundskeeping, gardening, or maintenance.
• Basic mechanical or equipment handling knowledge.
• UK driving licence and access to transport.
• Interest in pursuing a career in sports turf management.
• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent qualification/experience).
