Overview

Role

Ground Maintenance Team Leader – Ely

Salary: £26,863 – £28,276 per year
Hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 4:30pm

We have an exciting opportunity for a Ground Maintenance Team Leader to join our Grounds Maintenance team based in Ely. The Grounds Maintenance team is responsible for completing ground maintenance tasks over various sites across the area. This role sits within the Estates team consisting of Landscape Techs, Cleaning Techs and Caretakers. Daily tasks will include completion of risk assessments, van checks, upkeep of equipment in line with safe working practice, litter picking, shrub pruning, grass and hedge cutting, weed spraying, removal of fly tipping and bin store clearances.

If you have experience in a gardening role, using gardening equipment and machinery then this could be the role for you. You will be in a team of two per van but occasionally lone working will be required.

Responsibilities
  • Using equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment and the manufacturer’s guidance
  • Carrying out all tasks such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements
  • Ensuring tools and equipment are kept in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks
  • Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations
Skills and qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
  • Ability to use and update computerised systems (including PDA) for work scheduling
  • A 'can do' attitude to work assignments
  • Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 – PA6 (or equivalent) is essential
  • Recent experience of working within a similar role where operating gardening machinery is essential
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence.
