About this opportunity and L3Harris UK

From 11 UK sites our team of nearly 1000 people delivers unique capabilities across space air land sea and cyber for military security and commercial customers across the UK and worldwide.

L3Harris in Bristol is our headquarters for our Maritime UK businesses which provides warship automation systems through control and simulation solutions that are in service on Albion Class Landing Platform Docks and Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers. More systems are being developed and delivered for Type 26 and Type 31 frigates. We have additional Maritime UK sites across Burgess Hill Barrow-In-Furness and Portchester. Together we are powering the Royal Navys adoption of autonomous surface vehicle technology as well as delivering autonomous capability to UK ports harbours and offshore energy service providers.

About this scheme

This framework provides rotations through other disciplines to allow you to have a deeper understanding of other engineering teams. Each functional rotation requires significant contribution towards real world applications.

Throughout you receive suitable training opportunities to cultivate a wide range of competencies to shape you into a well-rounded engineer. You will have a dedicated mentor many networking opportunities and support with Professional membership. The scheme will conclude with a performance and salary review to consider your progression and evaluate your future development needs.

All graduates will automatically be enrolled into the L3Harris UK chapter of the Early Careers Professionals Employee Resource Group (ERG) GIANTS (Graduate Intern Apprentice Nurturing Training Scheme).

Please note this is a 24‑month contract.

What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills :
  • Degree qualified in relevant STEM degree.
  • Some understanding of systems concepts context boundaries interfaces system hierarchy and the principles of system partitioning to help manage complexity.
  • Some understanding of the characteristics of good quality requirements management methods and tools
  • Broad knowledge of Systems Design methodologies
  • Awareness of Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Excellent planning communication and co-ordination skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
Important to know

Due to the nature of our work many our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
