Acre is rebuilding the UK’s £1.4 trillion mortgage market with a new end-to-end system for mortgage advisors.

As a Software Engineer in Test, you will be a vital part of our agile team, focusing on manual testing, developing code, test cases, and infrastructure to ensure software quality. You will help improve engineering practices, increase test coverage, and foster a culture of prevention over fixing bugs. Your work will influence our new product lines and customer experience, with a broad impact across our team.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing test automation systems and serving as a team subject matter expert.
  • Performing manual tests on various flows and edge cases.
  • Writing reusable, extensible tests at unit and integration levels.
  • Collaborating with product teams to ensure high-quality, secure, and reliable products.
  • Communicating quality strategies effectively within and outside the team.
  • Designing prototypes and experiments to validate system architecture and test approaches.
  • Improving development processes with a focus on end-to-end quality.
  • Coaching team members and fostering a quality mindset.
  • Quantifying testing metrics and outcomes.
  • Verifying and validating system functionality and security.
  • Supporting team development and understanding of testing methodologies.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Experience with software quality assurance and testing.
  • A degree in a technical discipline.
  • Ability to read and write code; experience with JavaScript and Go preferred but not essential.
  • Passion for delivering customer-loved products.
  • Ability to analyze and debug HTTP exchanges.
  • Understanding of Single Page Applications, preferably React.
  • Willingness to embrace uncertainty and challenge oneself and the team.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify potential issues.
  • Knowledge of security, performance, usability, and scalability considerations.
  • Effective communication skills.
