Graduate Cloud Engineer (Oracle Cloud)

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated Junior Cloud Engineer to join our Defence and Security team. In this role, you will support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of secure Oracle Cloud infrastructure environments, working closely with experienced cloud and DevOps professionals to design resilient and scalable cloud solutions that support mission‑critical national security systems. This is a Bristol‑based role that will involve hybrid working.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of Oracle Cloud resources, including compute, storage, and networking components.
• Write and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code scripts using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or shell scripting.
• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and support the resolution of cloud infrastructure incidents.
• Support the implementation of cloud security best practices and compliance with government regulations and standards.
• Implement backup strategies and disaster‑recovery solutions to ensure service continuity.
• Collaborate closely with DevOps, security, and software development teams to support continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of cloud environments, configurations, and procedures.
• Stay current with Oracle Cloud services, tools, and best practices through continuous learning and on‑the‑job experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (2.1 or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure), networking, and system administration.
• Exposure to scripting languages (Bash, Python) and/or infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Must be eligible for UK Security Check clearance.
