Overview

Graduate Academic Mentor – Location: Birmingham. Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–15:30pm. Salary: £500 – £570 per week. Start Date: September 2025. School Type: Secondary School.

This progressive and high-performing secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Graduate Academic Mentor to support students in raising attainment and developing confidence in one of the core subjects.

As a Graduate Academic Mentor, you’ll work alongside experienced teachers, delivering tailored academic support both in and out of the classroom. You’ll receive training and ongoing guidance to help you grow in confidence, preparing you for potential future teacher training. This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate who wants to make a real difference while exploring a rewarding career path in education.

Role Responsibilities
  • Use your subject expertise to support students with their learning
  • Deliver targeted academic interventions, both 1:1 and in small groups
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging lessons
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning and stay on track
  • Encourage academic progress and inspire a genuine love for your subject
  • Support classroom teachers with day-to-day tasks and pupil engagement
Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for a graduate who:

  • Has achieved a 2:1 or higher in a relevant subject (English, Maths, Science)
  • Ideally studied at a Top-30 University (preferred, not essential)
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn
  • Has a genuine passion for education and supporting young people
  • May have experience working with young people (voluntary or paid – desirable)
