Overview

Kickstart Your Career in Golf with a Golf Operations Administrator Apprenticeship!

Are you approachable, reliable, and confident? Do you love the idea of working in a vibrant golf environment where no two days are the same? If so, the Golf Operations Administrator Apprentice role could be the perfect fit for you. You’ll be at the heart of the action, welcoming members and guests, helping to organise competitions and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the club. You’ll provide excellent front-of-house service and handle key admin tasks that keep everything running behind the scenes.

Training to be provided:

Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 15-month apprenticeship which includes 12 days at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6-8 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.

About the role

The Golf Operations Administrator Apprentice will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Finance: Support the Admin Assistant with daily bank reconciliation & invoicing; ensure membership & society bills are inputted and paid off correctly on Intelligent Golf.
  • Membership: Organise and administer competitions & club matches as required by the competitions committee and ensure that they are set up in Intelligent Golf; action all new member enquiries and set up interviews with GM; liaise with relevant department heads to promote the social and golfing calendar to the membership; ensure forthcoming golf events are advertised on the website and Clubhouse; ensure new members are integrated into the club early, set up 1, 3 & 6 month calls to aid retention; facilitate the production of the club's annual diary, liaising with match and fixture managers to do so; ensure the WHS platform is kept up to date and cleansed regularly; source corporate membership opportunities and secure at least 2 new corporate memberships annually.
  • Visitors/Guests: Manage all society bookings from initial enquiry to invoicing; welcome visiting parties and follow up on their experience; promote and organise club Open Days ensuring that competitors receive an excellent golfing experience; proactively source new golf society and corporate golf day business to meet targets set by GM; promote the club through its social media platforms; engage with staff and members in the material used for the website and social media; adhere to the club’s social media plan for consistency.

  • General: Ensure that the Lee on the Solent Golf Club Limited branding is consistently maintained and promoted across all internal and external media and events; comply with and implement all Health and Safety procedures within the Golf Club; ensure that company policies and procedures are carried out as stated in the company/staff handbooks.
Essential Skills

It is essential that the Golf Operations Administrator Apprentice has the following skills and personal qualities:

  • GCSEs in maths and English with at least a grade C/4
  • A robust knowledge of the game of golf
  • Experience of supervision/management in a similar quality golf environment
  • Ability to quickly build excellent working relationships
  • A flexible approach to work to meet operational demand
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Competence in IT with knowledge of Office software and the ability to use technology

The successful candidate must be 18+ years to be able to work the required hours. Driving licence is preferred but not required.
