The team:

The Chief Technology Organisation (CTO) within Global Technology is responsible for designing, building and managing critical systems and platforms across the enterprise, lines of business and regions. This includes delivering end-to-end technology infrastructure solutions across hosting, application services, network and data platforms and end-user computing services.

Programme Overview

Our full time 12 month Industrial Placement (IP) programme is designed to offer you a broad and exciting experience of work. During your placement, you have the opportunity to learn from our technology specialists and gain hands on experience by completing onboarding rotations, prior to fully integrating into one of our specialist teams.

Training and Development

Your training and development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on-the-job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout. You will have the opportunity to participate in industry standard courses and certifications such as Agile, Azure, CCNA, and others.

Responsibilities:

As an Industrial Placement Intern, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Deploying and supporting core infrastructure that underpins the daily operations of the entire bank, from worldwide networks to modern workstation platforms
• Design on-premise and cloud solutions used by multiple lines of business, handling billion dollars of transactions per day
• Work with various platform teams and Business Technology Groups to help build out automated processes
• Partake in global incident, change and event management processes
• Design and develop cutting-edge solutions to drive operational excellence
• Liaise with business management functions
• Learn and develop skills relating to a broad range of technologies, platforms and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes
• Translate business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for deployment in compliance with architecture standards and policies

Eligibility

• Candidates are required to be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a completion time frame between September 2027 and July 2028. Completion means that you have completed all final exams, coursework, and have no outstanding requirements for graduation. Please note that we reserve the right to request evidence of this completion date before extending an offer.
• Achieved minimum of 112 UCAS point (or equivalent) and on track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
• To be eligible to apply for this role in Chester, you must have the right to work in the UK as visa sponsorship is not available.
• Must have a 12 month placement programme built into the academic curriculum and be available to join the programme from June 2026 for 12 months. We are unable to adjust the dates of this programme and you will need to be available for full-time work for the full 12 months.

Candidates who perform well during the internship may be offered full time employment to commence in July 2028; some lines of business may also offer the opportunity of a January or April start date. You must be available to join on one of these start dates if offered, unfortunately we are unable to offer deferrals.
