Geologist

Are you interested in Geotechnical ground investigation for construction? This could be your opportunity to excel as a Geologist, as well as playing a vital role in helping our business succeed.

As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our teams. We have a great opportunity for a dedicated Geologist to join our Infrastructure Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.

We are looking for a reliable, flexible and driven Geologist to join our Geotechnical team. As a member of Geotechnical, you will be exposed to a variety of unique projects throughout the country. It is key that you have the balance to be proactive and independent, while simultaneously being a strong team player. Good management skills, and a strong understanding with experience in the industry are vital in order to succeed in this role.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):
  • Confident and knowledgeable of ground investigation techniques
  • Prepare Health & Safety documentation prior to and during the site works phase, as well as assisting with the managing the Health & Safety of operatives and promoting a safe working environment
  • Responsible for the planning, supervision and programming of Ground Investigation projects at locations throughout the United Kingdom
  • Logging of Soil and Rock in accordance with the specification and BS5930:2015+A1:2020
  • Keeping accurate field records of tasks performed
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
  • Qualified to degree level in a geotechnical discipline
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Computer literate and competent in use of MS Office to create spreadsheets and documents for effective reporting, communication and record keeping
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Good attention to detail
  • Mobility, flexibility and commitment
