We have an exciting opportunity for General Practitioners to join our Primary Care team at HMP Foston Hall, a female closed prison in Derby. HMP Foston Hall houses around 300 patients aged between 18–75 years. In this role you will deliver general practice clinics to support long-term conditions and acute needs. Applicants must have an interest in female health and competencies in female-specific health needs, including insertion and removal of LARCs.

Hours 2 days per week, either Monday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Friday

Salary This position is part time; annual salary up to £131,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

General Practitioners are valued members of the Prison Healthcare team. Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high-quality healthcare to a diverse patient group and develop knowledge across areas beyond a standard practice, including opportunities in acute and primary care settings
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, and make timely decisions regarding future management
  • Act as a highly specialist resource to other healthcare team members and contribute to clinical governance and effectiveness activities
