Job description
Job Summary

The role is to facilitate high standards of clinical practice in General Practice by providing structured support to student nursing associates and other learners. The objective is to promote General Practice as an attractive setting for nurses and nursing associates, develop new pathways for entry into the specialism, and build a community of practice to reduce isolation and vulnerability of their roles.

Responsibilities
  • Raise awareness and promote the Nursing Associate (NA) role and its benefits within Primary Care Networks.
  • Undertake clinical teaching and assessment for Student Nursing Associates (SNA) to support successful completion of their programme, and for NA to support their continuous professional development.
  • Facilitate external placements for student nursing associates, using learning during placements to drive improvements in student experience, engagement, and retention.
  • Work with colleagues to develop resources for primary care employers and non‑registered staff, supported by a clear engagement plan. Resources should also guide non‑registered staff on their career pathways.
  • Support registered nurses and nursing associates new to the specialism with their development and smooth transition into General Practice.

Experience
  • Current experience in General Practice nursing.
  • Experience of teaching, assessing, and supporting learners in practice.

  • Experience of initiating or participating in clinical audit.
  • Desirable: experience of leading, motivating, and developing other nurses.
  • Desirable: experience of supporting and assessing student nursing associates.
  • Desirable: participation in regular clinical supervision.
Qualifications
  • Essential: Maths and English GCSEs (Grade C and above) or equivalent.
  • Essential: NMC Registered General / Adult Nurse.
  • Essential: Post‑registration education or qualification relevant to primary care.
  • Essential: General Practice experience.
  • Essential: Practice Assessor Qualification.
  • Desirable: Teaching Qualification.
  • Desirable: Leadership Training Qualification.
Employment Details

Salary: £47,758 to £54,651 a year pro rata, depending on experience.
Contract: Fixed‑term, 12 months.
Working pattern: Part‑time.
Location: Theta Building, Lyon Way, Frimley / Camberley, Surrey (GU16 7ER).
